The Big Bang Theory: A Companion in My PMP Journey

When I started my journey to get the PMP certification, I didn’t expect that a comedy show like The Big Bang Theory would become a big part of it. It may sound strange, but when you’re studying hard, feeling stressed, and following a strict routine, you need something to help you relax and feel better. For me, that was this show.
A lucky discovery.
At the beginning, I was looking for something light to watch—something that wouldn’t take too much of my energy or distract me too much. I found The Big Bang Theory, and it quickly became part of my daily routine.
After a long day of studying, I would sit down and watch Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, Raj, and Penny. I laughed with them, relaxed, and felt like I was part of their world.
But what does this have to do with PMP?
At first glance, nothing. But if you look closer, you’ll see some interesting links:
Project thinking: Each episode is like a mini-project: it starts with a goal, has challenges, team discussions, and ends with a result—even if it’s a bit crazy.
Teamwork: The characters are very different from each other, but they work together like a real project team.
Innovation and problem-solving: The show is full of creative ideas, logical thinking, and sometimes leadership moments (even if it’s Sheldon being the boss!).
A show I never get bored of
As I progressed in my PMP studies, I rewatched some seasons and noticed jokes I didn’t see before. Maybe my mind became sharper, or maybe I was just more connected to the characters.
The Big Bang Theory became more than a show—it was part of my journey. It helped me stay balanced, and gave me something to enjoy when things got tough.
The most important lesson
In the middle of a serious and demanding goal, we all need something to keep us human. For me, this show was not a waste of time—it gave me energy to keep going.
And yes, I still watch it.
Maybe because it reminds me of how I started this important step in my life. Or maybe, it just still makes me smile. And that’s more than enough.
